Lakenheath Pride in Place Project - Can you help transform Lakenheath with £20 million

The search is on for board members and / or Community implementation team members to help deliver up to £20 million of improvements for Lakenheath as part of the Government’s Pride and Place initiative
.
To deliver this programme passionate residents, community and faith leaders, local employers and public agency representatives are needed to serve as members on the Pride in Place Lakenheath Neighbourhood Board.

We will also be establishing a number of community implementation teams to carry forward the work in different focus areas, such as in the areas of:
Children & Young People
Environment,  Energy & Technology.
Economic Development – Employment, Skills and Education
Enhancing and redeveloping existing community assets
Health, Wellbeing, Leisure and Active Travel
Heritage, Arts & Tourism
Match funding - bringing in more resources to our community

You may feel that a role on an implementation team is a better fit if you have experience or expertise in a specific area.

The UK Government has awarded Lakenheath up to £20 million in Pride in Place funding over the next ten years – a transformational investment the community's future. Newly appointed Chair Mike Malina, supported by West Suffolk Council and the MP Nick Timothy, is leading the establishment of the new board and the work going forward.

The Neighbourhood Board will allocate funding over the next 10 years based on input from the community; this could be on initiatives such as refurbishing community facilities, improving infrastructure, providing health and wellbeing initiatives, improving access to training and employment, public transport, green spaces… the list is as long as the community wants it to be!

The Board will need a minimum of eight members,   more than half will be living or working within the Lakenheath community and membership should reflect the diversity of the community.  Implementation teams will enable even wider participation.

Board member’s primary roles are to be champions for Lakenheath and be able to bring together different voices to shape a collective vision for Lakenheath’s future, ensuring all voices are heard and that discussions remain collaborative. The board will be supported by the local councillor and MP.
