Sharing My Past

Some present and former villagers have contributed village memories and accounts of their lives in times past.

We include these without alteration or addition so as to show life in bygone days through their eyes. They make fascinating reading.

Any photographs relating to the stories or people involved would be gratefully received.

Music and Lyrics by Sue Crowe
Female Duo, Linda Spencer and Sue Crowe, also featuring bagpipes playing 'Skye Boat Song', “Christmas Hill’ tells the story of young couple who were torn apart by WW2 and their last meeting at the Lakenheath railway station before he goes off to war. He loses his life during the D Day Landings and word of his death never reaches her until many years later.
Inspiration for the song came to Sue as she drove over the railway crossing at Lakenheath, Suffolk and saw the sign for Christmas Hill Farm. In the three mile journey to her home in Lakenheath village, Sue, one half of the Wing Song duo with Linda Spencer, had written the song.  Remembering the story of how piper Bill Millin played on Sword Beach during the D Day landings,

Vocals: Sue Crowe, Linda Spencer (Wing Song)
